interview

Do you remember your first flight? How was it?

My first flight was not very romantic. It was on a cold wet winter day in the Simmental.

What moments make flying worthwhile?

Definitely in Pakistan when I flew over some 6,600 metre unnamed peaks.

Your three top flying areas?

1. Bergell
2. Engadin
3. Dolomites

What are you doing on a day that is not flyable?

On the stormiest days of the year I’m in my office.

Most important paragliding successes?

Because I think their wings, harnesses and service are the best.

Why do you fly for ADVANCE?

Because I think their wings, harnesses and service are the best.

What is your favourite food?

A cake with honey, called "Honigschnitte"!

What is your favourite quote in life?

Keep it simple.

    The black mirror

Imagine a picturesque mountain world with dense larch forests, crowned by a blue mountain lake. The complete picture seems so perfect it must be imaginary, but it really exists. It’s Lake Sils in the Swiss Upper Engadine. As a paraglider pilot and mountain guide, Romano knows the landscape from every perspective. Today this mountain lake offers outdoor sports enthusiasts many opportunities, but it has always fascinated people. Where the unique reflections in the water inspired Friedrich Nietzsche to write poems two centuries ago, the frozen lake and its unique ice images still attracts skaters, ice sailors and photographers who relish the unforgettable experience it presents. A paraglider pilot on skates, however, is something of a rarity.
