Reserve inspection
In addition to at least one annual repack, reserve parachutes must also undergo a full visual inspection or even a factory inspection according to defined time intervals or after defined events (e.g. deployment, extension of service life). ADVANCE operates two of its own service centers in Thun (CH) and Oderen (EU), which are authorised to carry out full visual inspections and factory inspections. Full visual inspections may also be carried out by other authorised service centers.

Please pre-book your repack / inspection slot in advance by email (support@advance.ch) or telephone. This means, you can either send in your reserve a few days before the agreed date together with the completed inspection form, or bring it in person. We usually carry out the planned work within a week.

- COMPANION SQR reserve parachutes must be aired and repacked at least every 12 months. A pack inspection must be carried out each time they are repacked.
- After 4 and 8 years of service, COMPANION SQR reserve parachutes must undergo a full visual inspection. All components are checked thoroughly and the fabric is examined against the light or on a light table.
- After 10 years of service, the maximum service life is reached. This can be extended once by two years if a full visual inspection is carried out again.
- After the device has been deployed (emergency, safety training), a full visual inspection must be carried out before repacking.
- A factory inspection is required in the following cases: damage, mould/rot, after 4 deployments, after 20 packs or after a deployment at high speed > 32 m/s.
DIspatch instructions
Please note the following points when dispatching your COMPANION SQR reserve to an ADVANCE Service Center:
- Enclose a completed ADVANCE Service Center order form with the package. You can download the form here and print it out.
- Pack your reserve well and place it in a cardboard box (as a safeguard against possible cuts) to ensure that it is well protected in transit.
- Provided this principle is applied, despatch by post is the fastest and safest method. Alternatively, you can also deliver your paraglider to us in person.
- Send your COMPANION SQR reserve to ADVANCE in Thun (Switzerland) if you are resident in Switzerland or outside the EU area.
- Send your COMPANION SQR reserve to ADVANCE in Oderen (France) if you are resident in the EU area.
- On completion, the reserve will be returned together with a test report, unless other arrangements have been agreed in advance.
