INTERVIEW

DO YOU REMEMBER YOUR FIRST FLIGHT? HOW WAS IT?

Yes. It was very unspectacular on the Schwäbische Alb.

Your most beautyful flying experience?

Probably the take-off from the Bernina with Ueli Steck. We never thought we would be able to launch there. And then, after a while, we somehow made it out and flew over the impressive glacier landscape towards Pontresina. Or my longest flatland flight; I launched from our 20-meter-high ridge, climbed up to 2,000 meters, and flew nearly 100 km eastward with the westerly wind, landing in my parents’ garden.

YOUR THREE TOP FLYING AREAS?

Alpstein, flatlands of Germany, Vorarlberg

WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON A DAY THAT IS NOT FLYABLE?

Climbing, mountaineering

WHY DO YOU FLY FOR ADVANCE?

After several accidents and negative experiences, I wanted to move away from single skins. The new PI convinced me. And it's a Swiss company.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FOOD?

Pizza

WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH TO LIFE?

"You don't know if you don't go." However, that does not apply to paraglider launches. I have become a bit more defensive there in recent years.
