About
Roland is anything but an unknown in the ACRO scene. He continues to prove his talent since his second place at the 2021 Synchro World Championships. The Austrian spends every free minute in the air and also works as a social worker - "on the side".
Interview
Do you remember your first flight? How was it?
On my first high flight I asked the instructor how to do a wingover and he guided me round it over the radio. It was a very special experience for me, one that I will never forget.
What moments make flying worthwhile?
I fly for all those moments that are special in our sport – flying with friends and just having fun, or training for specific manoeuvres that will work well in competition. You experience so many great moments in paragliding that it is difficult to identify the best.
Your three top flying areas?
Number one is definitely the Bischling in Werfenweng. But if the north wind is too strong there, I like to go to the Krippenstein. Naturally, Organya has to be on the list ;-)
What are you doing on a day that is not flyable?
I catch up with things at home and get the house in order. When this is done, if it is not raining, I spend a lot of time outdoors. I also work a few hours as a social worker.
Most important paragliding successes?
One of the biggest successes for me was to have achieved the first Brohook with a paramotor. Another important success for me is that I can go acro flying with a paramotor on my back.
Why do you fly for ADVANCE?
The OMIKRON is just fantastic for acro flying. All the products are very reliable and high quality. I can also identify very well with the ADVANCE brand. The team behind it is great.
What is your favourite food?
Definitely liver sausage with spinach and mashed potato.
What is your favourite quote in life?
